Can't say much on grub2, beside I'm not aware of more issues with it
compared to grub, and much less than with lilo.

I agree somewhat. It is the answer for the more complex systems today. I
know of some engineers not loving it at first, now feeling they can take
many advantages by the dependency system in it.

I'm not in sales :-)

systemd and grub2 is what is used by the enterprise Linux, and the old
will not come back. Sometimes stuff has to change.

For my own systems lilo would still be good, I'm used to grub meanwhile
and can fix it when needed, grub2 I had no reason to dig into the details.

Regarding systemd I have mixed feelings, mostly because I had not much
time to dig into it and when I have to check something at boot it might
be good to be in a home office, so none can hear me ... But it took me
some time to master the old system-v init style, too.
